Tips for Making Daily Chores More Enjoyable

Have you ever met a person who loves housework? Well, I guess you may have run into a few during your lifetime but, in general, most people including me would do anything to escape from chores. If you are one of them, here are a few things you can try to make you feel better even when doing the one thing you despise the most; cleaning!

Listen To Music

We all love music and songs. It is said that music heals the soul, so when you are performing a task that you do not like, listening to music will make it easier and more bearable.

First of all, you need to pick the kind of music you love and enjoy. Something that works for someone else may not work for you so make sure you choose wisely. Generally, most would like soft rock or hip-hop, but that does not mean that you cannot use classical music if that is what you like.

However, when you get about doing this, you would realize it is easier said than done. Regular stereos will require you to insert discs with the tracks you want or to plug in a USB. Since most of us are so used to storing songs on our phones, the best solution will be to use bluetooth speakers that can be directly connected to the phone. Not only they can be carried around when you are moving from one place to the other, the sound quality is also superb. Therefore, you can listen to the music without any interruption and enjoy it to the fullest without making it add to the stress of doing chores.

Divide and Conquer

If you try to do the whole thing at once, be it cleaning or doing laundry just seeing how much work you have to do will put you off. So, this is where you need to apply the concept of divide and conquer. Well, it is not something as complex as the name. You just divide the tasks into smaller segments and attempt those segments without trying to finish the whole thing at once.

Enlist Help

This is one of my favourite methods of making chores enjoyable. However, you need to remember that this may not always be possible. For example, you may be living alone. You can’t go around asking your neighbours to help you with the housework, can you?

On the other hand, if there are others in the house, make sure they help you. For example, you can get your spouse and/or the kids to do simple things depending on their capabilities. I, for one, do not want to have to do the same task twice simply because my helper messed up or was too clumsy to do a proper job.

Small Rewards

Sometimes we tend to do things better if we know that we are getting a reward at the end. We are still kids in our minds who would do even the hardest things to win a favourite chocolate or some other treat. However, spoiling yourself too much may not be a good idea in the long run. So, instead of the rewards, you might want to think about the number of calories you are burning for free when you are attending to the chores and how that will help to keep you fit and healthy.

Therefore, no matter which solution or solutions you choose to make the chores more bearable, make sure to start with the right mindset to keep stress at bay.
